stuff

Sick child all week, its a virus so v. annoying if we overdo it, it comes back again.

Hence Arran did go to Mindquest on Saturday but was too sick to go on Sunday.

On the exciting side of what happened this week, Arran made her first sale of hand made cards.

bra shopping

OK, is this scarey to go bra shopping at age 10. Apparently about 80% of the girls in Year 5 have one.

I seem to remember around 13 was the age for all this when I was growing up. Or is that selective memory.

Another try at a birthday weekend

Jamberoo

We had great fun this weekend. Stayed in a gorgeous house, Cedar Mists. we booked through South Coast Holidays. Jamberoo was really easy to get around, rides were fun.

Birthday weekend

What a mixed bag of a weekend.

Arran reached double digits.

Father in law taken to hospital.

Great upgrade at Hotel Realm, which we really loved.

Thank god for Shanthini - what a queue at the National Gallery.

Exhibition great but how much patience do you have left to look at art when you have been queueing for 3 hours?

Swimming Carnival

How nice that I was able to attend Arran's swimming carnival.

Though I have to admit after all those swimming lessons I thought she might win something. However, I am very pleased that she is able to participate and gives it a go.

Hobbies

I fel rather refreshed this week taking up a bookbinding course and also going back to slightly better than beginners in Spanish.

Nice to think in a different way.

Rainy days

A day of rather tropical rain, to match this summer's humidity. The kind when you listen and wonder what might be flooding, or at least when our house used to flood, the kind that you crossed your fingers that it wasn't flooding.

We spent the day doing domestic stuff, baking cupcakes and spinach pie. Finally taking the Christmas tree down.

Don't know what happened to our bunny, he was rather poorly in the evening and off his food. He seems to have bounced back to health overnight.

Back to school

Back in the groove again and back to school.

Saxophone being practised in the background, a bit rusty after a month or so without playing.

Back at full steam with my work and wondering what I want to do next.

gerroa

Spent the weekend at Gerroa, which was revitalising

Caught the train down, which gave me time to read, got some great ideas on the way.

Plus found out that the Guardian actually has a great setting for reading it on mobile phones.

It was great to catch up with Perrie and Bert.

Beach was excellent at 7pm, watching the sun set and lolling in the surf.

Circus Oz

Took the family down to Tumbalong Park to see Circus Oz.

It was the three generations, grandparents, us and Arran. Seems the older and the younger generation enjoyed what they saw. Us in the middle thought it was fine, but were uninspired. However for a fun, family thing to do, it is recommended.

Its a short walk from there to Chinatown, so we caught the end of the night noodle markets.

Blue Mountains

Spent a couple of nights in the Mountains visiting some friends.

Found out it was our Uncle John and Aunty Sunny's 48th wedding anniversary on the 29th December. That was some coincidence that we happened to drop in on that day.

Hung out in expensive Leura and made an expensive toy purchase. However, now we are back in Sydney I realise that we could have bought it cheaper on the net. So we shall be converting to online shopping for the future. Therein lies another lesson!

Also reckon that lot of those restaurants and cafes are overrated and too expensive for what they provide. Tourist traps.

Santa comes to the Greyhound track

Ok, yes, here I am again, bad parent, what am I teaching my daughter? Santa arrived by ute on the greyhound track! Great Australian values.

Wentworth Park Greyhounds had free entry for families, present from Santa, bouncey castle, petting zoo and face painting all for free. All this to the background of races being called, bookies in place and of course the long TAB counter.

OK, we are unlikely to ever go back to watch the greyhound races, but was blown away with the real estate that the dogs have, how on earth do they afford that space, when there are so few people going?

Also was fascinated by that bunny zooming around the track.

Ho, ho, ho
